The Medeiros Farm Plan is
WRONG for Seekonk.

Why?

  • It Breaks the Town’s Own Plan for Rural and Historic Features and Protecting Water Supply & Wildlife
Seekonk’s Open Space & Rec Plan for 2021-2028 calls for “maintaining existing fields, not new builds”
  • It Adds Noise, Lights & Traffic, with 5-7 Recreation Fields
Evening games, large crowds, whistles, loudspeakers, and bright lights will disrupt quiet neighborhoods, increase car congestion, and reduce property values.
  • It Raises Major Child Safety Risks
Increased traffic on narrow, winding residential streets, no sidewalks, speeding visitors, and parking across from fields threaten pedestrian and neighborhood safety – real, daily danger.
  • It Threatens Our Water & Wildlife
The proposed site is near sensitive watershed and aquifer zones. Added turf, grading, and chemicals could pollute local drinking water sources and wildlife habitats.
  • It Hides the Real Costs
Residents are being asked to to consider this project without full financial disclosure. No construction estimate, maintenance budget, or tax impact has been shared. Residents deserve transparency before voting.
  • There Are Better, Safer Options
Use money intended for this project to recondition existing fields.
The future Middle School site is currently under discussion, and the fields could be integrated efficiently and safely.
